In the NZ Herald dated Saturday, October 19 2019, there’s a fairly large VANZ advertisement on Page A14 as follows:
* “Have you served in New Zealand’s Armed Forces?”
* “If you’ve served in New Zealand’s Armed Forces you might be eligible for support from Veterans’ Affairs.”
It bangs on about the normal support available for qualifying veterans.
And, interestingly, at least two-thirds of the advertisement talks about:
* Extra support for Vietnam veterans. At the end, is a picture of people in Army strip, it says:
* “For more information and to register as a Vietnam veteran contact:
* http://www.veteransaffairs.mil.nz/vietnam
* 0800 483 8372”
On the face of it, from the advertisement even though there’s no mention of the other two services, it would seem clear to the average punter, that Air and Navy veterans are considered as an afterthought. Or, perhaps, as an appendage!
It is obvious the advertisement was written by a One-Eyed Piccolo Player!
